Sergeant B.U. Demirci and Deputy A.J. Charoenthep stopped a Mazda with a license plate belonging to a Volkswagon just before 12:30 a.m. Thursday, March 21 at Warrenton Road and Olde Forge Drive, Sheriff David Decatur said.

Demirci and Charoenthep stopped the vehicle and made contact with the driver, 44-year-old Michael Parnell II, of Bumpass.

Parnell said he was trying to make a DoorDash delivery, but the order would need to wait considering Parnell had a revoked license due to a prior DUI incident, and an open container of alcohol within the vehicle, Decatur said.

After conducting field sobriety tests, Parnell was charged with driving under the influence, driving with a revoked license, DUI endangerment, and driving while restricted. He was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond.
